Beefburgers in Tomato Sauce

Good beefburgers are so easy to make and far superior to many shop-bought burgers. When slow cooked in this tomato sauce they are ideal to serve with spaghetti, though you could slide them into burger buns with some of the sauce - as long as you have the means to clean up any dribbles!

Serves 4

450 g/1 lb minced (ground) beef

100 g/4 oz/2 cups fresh breadcrumbs

1 small onion, finely chopped

10 ml/2 tsp dried mixed herbs

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

25 g/1 oz/2 tbsp butter or margarine

1 beef stock cube

150 ml/¼ pt/2/3 cup boiling water

10 oz/275 g/medium can of condensed cream of tomato soup
